Shoot-Out: Should Mauricio Pochettino bring Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen to PSG?

Alli and Eriksen both had success under Pochettino at Tottenham.

Mauricio Pochettino is expected to put his stamp on Paris Saint-Germain after taking over managerial duties at the Ligue 1 club.

The 48-year-old former Espanyol, Southampton and Tottenham boss was hired by PSG on Jan. 2, with the Parisians in the unfamiliar position of chasing the likes of Lyon and Lille for top spot on the table. With PSG's vast resources at his disposal, it's expected that Pochettino will look to quickly bring in reinforcements to allow for a push to the Ligue 1 title and another run to the Champions League final.

With Pochettino's most recent coaching experience coming at Tottenham, it would not be surprising to see the Argentine looking to reunite with some of the players from his Spurs teams.

The names most often brought up when considering who Pochettino could bring to the French capital are Dele Alli and Christen Eriksen, both of whom starred in Tottenham's midfield under PSG's new boss during his tenure in north London.

Shoot-Out: Should Chelsea fire Frank Lampard?

On a new episode of "Shoot-Out," hosts Greg Brady and Steve Bower look at the possibility of a mini Spurs reunion in Paris, with the upside of both players possibly joining the club.

Brady is incredulous at Alli's fall from grace at Tottenham, calling the England international the "third most important player" at Spurs. Needless to say, he's in favour of an Alli move to Paris.

"It's remarkable his absence from Jose Mourinho's lineup and — similar to [Mesut] Ozil at Arsenal — maybe we're looking at the point of no return for Dele Alli in the good graces at Spurs," Brady said. "He'd be my choice. He'd certainly be who I'd go after if I'm the new manager at PSG."

Bower echoes his co-host's sentiments, highlighting Pochettino's interpersonal relationships with Alli and other players as a positive of the coach's five-year term with Tottenham.

"I would say that Dele Alli's best football, by a mile, was played under Mauricio Pochettino," Bower said. "Pochettino, I know, had four or five key personal relationships with that Spurs team that got to the Champions League final and got so close to the title the year that Leicester won it as well, and Dele Alli was one of them."

Another close ally of Pochettino's at White Hart Lane and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was Eriksen, who has since moved on to Inter Milan but is not having a good spell with the Serie A outfit. Bower advocated to Brady the possibility of the Dane also heading to Paris in search of a fresh start.

"I possibly throw another one in Greg — in terms of those personal relationships — and that is Christian Eriksen, who has completely nosedived since leaving Tottenham," Bower said. "[It's] something he was keen to do before, of course, Jose Mourinho arrived and certainly once Jose Mourinho arrived, because those two didn't hit it off either. But it hasn't gone well for him at Inter and I just wonder, Greg, whether Mauricio might put his arm around him and get him to Paris and get him going again."
