Manchester City's 4-1 loss to Sporting Lisbon on Tuesday night was not the only shock to football fans.
One of the biggest surprises of the night was the appearance of City fan and Oasis star Noel Gallagher who was a co-commentator on UK broadcaster TNT Sports.
With the football broadcasting landscape constantly undergoing changes, for better or worse, fans watching the match did not hold back on how they thought the Britpop star performed with the microphone.
One fan was delighted to see Gallagher on commentary duty with the following post on X, "Whoever put Noel Gallagher in the commentary box what a mint decision biblical stuff."
Two other fans however were not too pleased to see the boyhood City fan as a member of the media in the Portuguese capital.
"When you think the coverage on TNT sport couldn't get any worse they have Noel Gallagher on co commentary, deary deary me," one fan wrote.
"Is Noel Gallagher seriously on commentary on the City game? The game is gone," another wrote.
The fact City were comprehensively beaten whilst Gallagher was commentating gave some fans a comedic moment, with one describing it as 'poetic stuff' in a post on X.
"Noel Gallagher on TNT doing commentary for a City hiding is poetic stuff," read the post.
This loss to Sporting puts City on a three game losing streak in all competitions, and it does not get any easier for manager Pep Guardiola when his team faces Brighton and Hove Albion this coming Saturday.
