Tim Sherwood believes Arsenal should be over the moon they failed to sign Mykhailo Mudryk last season.
The Ukrainian looked set to join the Gunners in January last year, but in the end, opted to sign for London rivals Chelsea instead in a £62 million deal from Shakhtar Donetsk.
At the time it looked like a blow for Mikel Arteta's men, but talking to William Hill and Footy Accumulators’ podcast, No Tippy Tappy Football, Sherwood says Arsenal should be thankful they didn't sign the 23-year-old and questioned the desire of some of the Blues players who have been handed eight-year contracts with the club.
Sherwood said:“For me, Mykhailo Mudryk is the main one. Arsenal must be thanking their lucky stars that he chose to go to Chelsea instead of them.
On the flipside, Mikel Arteta might’ve made him into the player that we all thought he would be. He obviously has ability but he’s just not showing it.
“If I was a Chelsea fan I’d be thinking ‘you might not be playing well, but at least show that you’re giving everything’.
I don’t know him and he’s not alone. There are loads of them that make you question whether they lack desire because they’re on these eight-year contracts and they’re very comfortable.”
