Patrick Bamford stole the headlines during the third round of the FA Cup this past weekend as his stunning volley helped Leeds United move past Peterborough.
Leeds were 3-0 winners and their place in the fourth round is secure, but it was Bamford’s unforgettable goal that everyone is talking about and rightfully so.
The Leeds forward collected a long ball on his chest and in one movement he volleyed the ball into the top corner from the well outside the area.
The goal instantly became a social media phenomenon with plenty of observers heaping praise on the strike and one of those people was Tony Bellew.
The former boxer and recent star of I’m a Celebrity Get me Out of Here is a big Everton supporter and loves football, and he was quick to compliment Bamford on his goal on his X account.
“Ok so just give him goal of the decade now,” wrote Bellew
“That is quite simply the best goal I’ve seen since Maradona ran past 22 men!!”
