Toronto FC vs. Charlotte FC: How to watch Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Bernardeschi’s potential MLS debuts in Canada

Toronto FC vs. Charlotte FC: How to watch Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Bernardeschi’s potential MLS debuts in CanadaToronto FC

The Italian revolution is on in Toronto.

With Domenico Criscito having already logged a couple of games in Toronto FC red, his former Italy teammates Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Bernardeschi are on deck. Insigne is TFC's marquee signing, with the diminutive Napoli legend having confirmed his move to Canada in the winter.

The 31-year-old officially became a Toronto player when his contract kicked in July 1, but a lingering calf injury from international duty has kept him from playing for his new side. However, Insigne has been a participant in TFC's full training sessions over the past week and looks on track to make at least a cameo appearance at BMO Field when the Reds meet expansion side Charlotte FC for the first time.

Bernardeschi was a later addition to the MLS club, signing late last week after a months-long courtship. The affable former Juventus man appears closer to full fitness than Insigne, having stepped right into full training just a couple of days after his arrival.

Both men are looked upon as cornerstones of a club that is in heavy rebuilding mode. TFC still has an outside shot at qualifying for the postseason, but wins are of paramount importance — especially against fellow Eastern Conference teams.

With the urgency building, Insigne and Bernardeschi appear set to jump directly into the fray of an MLS playoff race.
