There's very little to separate Tottenham and Chelsea on the Premier League table.
The clubs will meet Thursday sporting the same number of points (33) and a near identical goal differential (13 for Spurs, 12 for Chelsea). Their respective records are nearly identical as well — Chelsea holds one more loss but Tottenham has played one fewer game.
Yet despite the similarities on the table, things are going very differently for the London sides in recent weeks. The most obvious is Chelsea's managerial change, with the Blues saying goodbye to Frank Lampard late last month in favour of Thomas Tuchel.
In the two games Tuchel has presided over, Chelsea's allowed zero goals while picking up four of the six points on offer.
Meanwhile, Spurs are still coached by Jose Mourinho. The seventh-placed side has fallen off the pace of late, dropping two straight matches and only winning twice since claiming victory in the North London Derby on Dec. 6. The poor run of form has relegated Spurs from being a bonafide title contender to a European hopeful in short order.
Needless to say, both clubs have plenty of motivation to pick up a victory on Thursday.
