A controversial call seemed to spark the visitors.

A dour first half set the scene for a lively closing 45 minutes as Manchester United completed yet another comeback, this time in a 1-3 victory against Tottenham in London on Sunday.

Second-half goals by Fred, Edinson Cavani and Mason Greenwood sealed the win for Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer's crew, after Son Heung-min had put Spurs in the lead prior to the halftime break. Son was involved in the two biggest moments of the first half, after he was judged to have been fouled by Scott McTominay in the build-up to a disallowed goal by Cavani in the 37th minute. Cavani's overturned strike was the result of a lengthy VAR review, the result of which was not taken kindly by Solsjkaer on the sidelines.

Son would then go on to give the hosts the lead just three minutes later, giving Tottenham life in a half that was largely devoid of it.

However, it was ultimately United that was spurred on by the first-half controversy, as they came out of the halftime break a different side. With Paul Pogba running the show, the Red Devils dominated proceedings in the second frame, and were rewarded handsomely for their effort.

After Fred put the teams on level terms just before the hour mark, Cavani finally got his goal with a splendid diving effort in the 79th minute. Then, in the dying moments, Greenwood put the match out of doubt with a tidy finish off a Pogba feed.
