A new front-man should be club's priority.

Former Spurs striker Teddy Sheringham has urged Tottenham to sign a centre-forward ahead of next season.

Ange Postecoglou's men finished fifth in the Premier League last season, missing out on a Champions League place after they failed to fill the void left by Harry Kane's move to Bayern Munich.

Now, the club legend is calling for his former side to make a move for a new centre-forward in the summer window and has earmarked an England striker who he thinks would be the perfect fit.

“Tottenham need a centre-forward,” he told Poker Sites

“They need a goalscorer – they can’t keep putting Heung-min Son up there because he’s not a proper striker, he’s a man who plays off a striker like he used to do with Harry Kane. James Maddison needs a focal point to play off as well.

“I think Ivan Toney would be a good fit for Tottenham – he could probably go to any of Chelsea, Arsenal or Tottenham. I’d like to see Spurs get him, because he’s got the leadership qualities of a number nine that would be very important for any of those teams.

"He leads the line so well for Brentford and always troubles his marker.”
