    Will the real Tottenham Hotspur please stand up?

    After two matchdays in the 2020-21 Premier League season, Spurs have delivered two very different performances. On opening weekend, the North London club was clearly second-best against a rebuilding Everton side that is playing under a new manager and still trying to figure out its identity. Spurs manager Jose Mourinho called his players "lazy" after the loss, prompting some to wonder just how ready for the new campaign the club was.

    On Matchday 2, Tottenham flipped the script by running rampant over Southampton. Powered by a four-goal performance from Son Heung-min and an attacking masterclass by Harry Kane (who assisted on all four of Son's goals and notched a late strike of his own), Spurs looked every bit the top club they aspire to be.

    To say it's been a rollercoaster start to the campaign is an understatement.

    Now Spurs come up against a team in a similar predicament. Through the first two matches of the season, Newcastle has also won and lost a game. The Magpies looked solid on opening weekend in a 2-0 victory over West Ham before completely falling apart a week later in a 3-0 loss to Brighton.

    Newcastle heads to London looking to get back on track, while Tottenham aims to keep the momentum of last weekend's dominant victory.

    Spurs may have another weapon at their disposal, of course, as Gareth Bale could make his Tottenham Hotspur Stadium debut after rejoining his old club on a season-long loan from Real Madrid. If Bale's in the lineup, Tottenham could be a force to be reckoned with.
