Teddy Sheringham believes Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag could be on a short leash at Old Trafford and could be sacked quickly if results aren't up to expectations.
Ten Hag was widely rumoured to be on the hot seat when United underwent an ownership change earlier this year, but he earned a vote of confidence from the new regime and will lead the Red Devils into the upcoming Premier League season.
However, Sheringham warned that Ten Hag could see his fortunes change very quickly should the team fail to deliver results. The treble-winning former United striker outlined a case where Ten Hag could be sent on his way in short order by minority owner Jim Ratcliffe.
"Even though he has signed a new contract, there are no guarantees over Erik ten Hag’s job," Sheringham told OLBG.
"Anything can happen in football, he could be sacked within two weeks if they had three bad results.
"Then again if he has three good results he could be as strong as ever, that’s football these days."
