Liverpool are going well this season.

Liverpool moved to the top of the Premier League with a hard fought 2-1 win over Crystal Palace with Harvey Elliot scoring the winner in the closing stages at Selhurst Park.

The win means Liverpool go to the summit for the time being with Arsenal set to visit Aston Villa later today, but regardless of where they end the weekend, Liverpool will be confident they can push for the title.

Despite having the majority of the ball in the first half, it was the home side who looked more of a threat, and they forced an excellent save from Alisson.

Palace thought they had a penalty, but the decision was overturned due to a foul on Wataru Endo in the build-up.

In the second half, Palace were eventually awarded a penalty when Jarell Quansah brought down Jean-Philippe Mateta.

After a lengthy VAR check, the kick was awarded and Mateta made no mistake from the spot.

With Jordan Ayew getting sent off for a seocnd yellow card, Liverpool took full advantage.

Mohamed Salah’s deflected strike put Liverpool level and Elliot’s excellent long-range strike late on was enough to secure all three points.
