The Portland Thorns are the 2022 NWSL champions and on Saturday night, they demonstrated not just their never-say-die attitude, but a heap of quality.

They were playing in one of the games of the season so far, trailing 3-2 to Angel City as they looked set to crash to defeat.

Goalkeeper Bella Bixby had other ideas, though.

Coming up for a corner in an act of desperation more than out of hope, Bixby was on hand to level the scores with a brilliant backheel, holding her nerve as the clock ticked down and her opponents closed in.
