Wayne Bridge explains why Harry Kane is undroppable for England

Should Harry Kane be dropped from England's starting lineup by Gareth Southgate? Wayne Bridge would like to see it happen but doesn't think it's realistic.

Kane has scored twice so far at Euro 2024 but the Three Lions have arguably looked better when the 30-year-old has been off the field.

England won a penalty shootout in the quarter-finals over the weekend without Kane as one of the shooters, and Bridge thinks that while the team appear improved whenever the Bayern Munich star has been subbed off, he doesn't believe Southgate would do something as drastic as leaving Kane out of the starting XI in Wednesday's semi-final against the Netherlands.

"[H]e’s obviously an unbelievable player that’s achieved so much, but I just believe that whenever we’ve changed things and someone’s come on, that it looks as if something’s going to happen and it brings something different," Bridge told Betfred.

“It would be a big statement for somebody to come out and say 'drop Harry Kane', but if you’re in the manager’s position, then can you really drop him? I would like to see it however, just to see how things change.

"However, if Harry goes and scores the winner against the Netherlands, then nobody will be talking about whether he should be dropped.”
