Former UFC fighter Michael Bisping believes that Wayne Rooney could beat Jake Paul if they ever met in the ring.
Rooney was a boxer in his formative years and retains a passion for the sport, having led out former world champion Ricky Hatton when the pair of them were active in their respective sports.
The former England forward is now retired as a player, and currently is the manager of Birmingham City.
Paul, however, is continuing to build up his boxing career after returning to winning ways against another mixed martial artist like Bisping, Nate Diaz.
Speaking to Betway, Bisping explained why he gives Rooney the edge.
He said: “Wayne Rooney is nowhere near the size of Jake Paul. But one thing we know, he'll have tremendous footwork.
“This is a man that's competed at the highest level of sport. He's got the dedication and the discipline.
“He's a scouser and they're tough people. Rooney is used to having a row, he grew up in a tough part of Liverpool and he's had many street fights and if he had a really good coach to take him under his wing, he can beat up that YouTuber all day long.”
