West Ham United overcame an early deficit to defeat Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 on Wednesday.

Spurs grabbed an early lead thanks to Cristian Romero's 11th-minute goal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but the Hammers scored twice in the second half to claim the victory.

It was Tottenham's fourth league loss in their past five matches, while West Ham are now winners in three of their last four Premier League contests.

Despite the teams' respective forms of late, West Ham manager David Moyes was pleased with how his side were able to hold off a Spurs side in desperate need of a result.

"Huge performance because of the quality of the opposition," Moyes told Amazon Prime. "We were up against it tonight. We had to dig in. Thankfully we just about scraped it.

"The quality Tottenham showed in the first half, I don't know if we touched the ball for eight or nine minutes.

"We gained a bit of confidence once we got some passes. We wanted to get after them a bit more but by the same breath we were cautious about them picking us off.

"We are a team who can give some of the good teams a bloody nose, we have that in us."
