The German rundown of possible outcomes.

Borussia Dortmund take on Real Madrid on Saturday in the season's showpiece game, the Champions League final.

The Germans go into the game as underdogs as they look to win their first European Cup since 1997, against the might of Madrid who are gunning for the club's 15th Champions League triumph.

However, if Dortmund do pull off a victory, here's how that affects the European spots in Germany.

How many Champions League spots has the Bundesliga got?

Having finished above the Premier League in the coefficient rankings this season, the Bundesliga was awarded an additional fifth spot, meaning the top five qualified for the Champions League.

Champions Bayer Leverkusen have qualified along with Stuttgart, Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund in 5th.

What happens if Dortmund win the Champions League?

Dortmund finished fifth, so they already have Champions League football for next season. However, a win for them at Wembley would be good news for Eintracht Frankfurt, the team in sixth place.

They would then qualify for the Champions League for next season.

What happens with the Europa League places?

Right now, it's Frankfurt and Hoffenheim who have qualified for the Europa League as a result of their league placings. However, if Dortmund were to win the Champions League, Frankfurt would then move up to that competition, leaving just one German representative in the Europa League.

Whatever Saturday's result, Werder Bremen and Freiburg will compete in the 2024-25 Europa Conference League.
