The former Chelsea man backed Kane to beat a former Bayern great’s milestone.

William Gallas backed Harry Kane to break Robert Lewandowski’s goalscoring record for Bayern Munich.

Kane arrived at Bayern with the club huge favourites to retain their Bundesliga title but instead they have fallen short under the pressure from Bayer Leverkusen, who continue to impress under Xabi Alonso.

While they are not out of the title race, they are 10 points behind their unbeaten rivals. That has led to the shock situation where Kane moved to Bayern in pursuit of the trophies that eluded him at Tottenham, only to see his new club struggle to maintain their previous standards.

Kane, however, can hardly be blamed as he already has 36 goals from 34 appearances for Bayern, and speaking to Genting Casino, Gallas backed him to score more than 41 goals in the league alone - a record set by former Bayern striker Lewandowski.

He said: “It looks like Bayer Leverkusen are going to win the Bundesliga, so Harry will be really, really disappointed because he went to Bayern to win trophies. Bayern can still fight for the Champions League.

“It looks like it will be a difficult first season for Harry in terms of trophies, but he can be very happy with his own performances because his stats from this season are just unbelievable.

“He has thirty goals in twenty-five games, and it looks like he will beat Robert Lewandowski’s record of 41 Bundesliga goals.“Nobody thought that he would be able to do that, including Robert Lewandowski (laughs)! He is scoring so many goals. That is the positive that he will take from this season.”
