Former Chelsea defender William Gallas has been impressed with Cole Palmer's time at the club so far.
After working his way through the academy to the first team at Manchester City, Palmer decided it was time to move on and signed for Chelsea on a seven-year contract in September.
While Chelsea's form so far this season has been mixed, one positive is the impact Palmer has had on the team. In 17 appearances across all competitions, the 21-year-old has scored nine goals which has got fans excited as to what Palmer could offer Chelsea in years to come.
In an interview with Gambling Zone, Gallas expressed his admiration for Palmer and compared him to an English football legend.
"How good is Cole Palmer? He’s very unique, especially for an English player. The last time I saw an English player like him was a long time ago," Gallas said.
"He’s unbelievable and still young and you can see he will make a lot of damage in the future because he’s very calm and technical.
"He reminds me of one player who played in France for Marseille, Chris Waddle. When he arrived at Marseille, he was unbelievable and the French fans were crazy about him.
"His technique was amazing and he brought something new. Like Palmer he was left footed and yes, it’s something I think is difficult for the defenders to play against as he’s very smart, especially in the box where he always does the right movement."
Following a 1-0 win over rivals Fulham last weekend, Chelsea return to action on January 23 where they will look to overtun a 1-0 deficit against Middlesbrough in the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final clash at Stamford Bridge.
