William Gallas believes that Manchester City’s mentality is what will win them the league this season.
After winning the treble last year, they let players such as Aymeric Laporte and Ilkay Gundogan depart, and brought in fresh faces for Pep Guardiola.
While City have occasionally hit the same heights as last season, their form has not been as consistent, and Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland have both suffered from injury, and they currently trail Liverpool by two points.
Nevertheless, Gallas thinks they will still top the league come the end of the season.
He told Gambling Zone: “When the season started, I [looked] at Arsenal and I said they won’t be champions this season. I said it will be City and look what happened on Saturday. They were losing 2-1 and then won 3-2, so it looks like they have the champions mentality.
“I think it will be City this season but next season I think Arsenal has a good chance.”
He continued: “Man City will win it. Then Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham will make up the top four. Aston Villa will finish fifth and Chelsea will finish sixth. To qualify for the Europa League, Chelsea have to finish sixth and I think they’ll qualify for it. It will be between United and Chelsea for sixth place.
“They’re two clubs that are having similar results and the same inconsistent performances. Chelsea are only three points behind West Ham in sixth so anything can happen."
