The goalkeeper is expected to make a full recovery.

Despite being stretchered off late during Monday's 1-0 loss to Liverpool after a scary collision with one of his teammates, Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Rui Patricio is expected to make a full recovery, said his manager.

Talking to Sky Sports immediately after the match, Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo said the 'keeper will be "OK."

"We just had an update now, he's OK," he said. "He's conscious. He remembers what happened. He's aware. So, the doctors tell me he's OK."

Late in the second half of the match, Patricio raced off his line to try to stop a charging Mohamed Salah from scoring. The Liverpool striker put the ball in the net but was later judged to be offside, but not before Patricio collided with Wolves defender Conor Coady. The 33-year-old goalkeeper then lay still on the grass for several minutes before being stretchered off.

"It was a collision with Coady," Nuno said. "The knee of Coady [collided with] the head [of Patricio], but it's OK. He's OK. We speak already, so he's OK."

Monday's incident sparked memories of Wolves striker Raul Jimenez's horrific head injury sustained in a collision with Arsenal's David Luiz in November. Jimenez suffered a fractured skull and is still recovering from the injury.

Despite the concern, Nuno assured that Patricio did not suffer as extreme an affliction.

"All these situations when it's a concussion in the head gets all of us worried, " he said. "He's going to recover, so everything's OK."
