World Cup winner names the player he thinks could be the world's best defender and it's not Virgil Van Dijk

William Saliba has earned many plaudits since establishing himself in the Arsenal team and a former Premier League defender has heaped further praise on the young centre back.  

Frank Leboeuf was one of the finest defenders about when he played, and he likes what he sees so far in his fellow Frenchman. 

As well as winning international honours with France, Leboeuf was also instrumental in the success Chelsea had at the end of the 1990s.  

Now a keen observer on the sport he competed so well in, Leboeuf is very impressed with Saliba and the huge impact he’s made at Arsenal. 

“I think William Saliba is already one of the world’s best centre-backs, if not the best,” said Leboeuf when speaking to BetVictor. 

“When he got injured last season Arsenal lost the title, not much more needs to be said about him than that. He has made some mistakes this season, but who doesn’t?”
