All the league and cup action, live this weekend on DAZN

Welcome to your weekend on DAZN, where we preview the top clashes and titanic tussles across the major European leagues, live and free for your viewing. In Germany, Eintracht Frankfurt are looking to arrest their recent slump but will face tough against Champions Bayern, Fiorentina are looking to finish the job in the Coppa Italia Femminile, can Sporting Huelva shock Atletico and in England, 8 teams are tussling for the honour to compete in the Semi-Finals.

Let’s take a deeper dive.

Frauen Bundesliga:

With action on pause last weekend due to the Frauen DFB Cup, the league returns with Bayern leading Wolfsburg by a single point. With the She-Wolves facing an easier assignment on paper, they’ll hope Frankfurt can do them a favour and take precious points off Alexander Straus’ side as we motor into the business end of the season.

Game of the Weekend: Eintracht Frankfurt vs Bayern Munich - Sat. 9th, 07:00 am/13:00pm CET

The Eagles have suffered a recent blip which has allowed Hoffenheim to close the gap on them. They’ll be keen to secure UWCL football for another season, but Bayern are equally keen on 3 points. Fresh from their DFB success, the visitors will hope to secure a key win to put doubt in the minds of Wolfsburg who don’t play until Monday. Sydney Lohmann’s long-term future is still up in the air - can she impress potential suitors with a strong showing?

Best of the Rest: VFL Wolfsburg vs RB Leipzig - Mon. 11th, 13:30pm ET/19:30 CET

Wolfsburg went into the international break unbeaten in 5 and managed to drive 3 past Frankfurt impressively last time out. Tommy Stroot’s side only have the league on their mind but they can’t afford to slip up as they host lowly RB Leipzig. The visitors are hoping to not drop straight back to 2. Bundesliga, but any points against the Greens would be a welcome bonus.

Coppa Italia Femmenile:

The first legs of Italy’s premier cup competition did not disappoint, with four teams all fighting hard to secure a spot in the final. Fiorentina take a slender 1-0 lead to Turin as Juventus look to turn the tie around, whilst Serie A Champions AS Roma are looking to finish the job at home after a solid 0-2 win in Milan.

Game of the Weekend: Juventus vs Fiorentina - Mar. 9th, 09:00am ET/15:00pm CET

La Viola’s home victory spelt the end of Joe Montemurro’s reign in charge of Juventus. The Old Lady are looking to defend their title for a third year running, but they’ll do it under interim management as they bid to overturn the 1-0 deficit at home. For the away side, a brilliant and disciplined first leg has left them on the brink of a first final since 2020, if Gigliate can finish the job.

Best of the Rest: AS Roma vs AC Milan - Mar. 10th, 09:00am ET/15:00pm CET

Alessandro Spugna’s side might have lost the last two finals, but a controlled first leg in Milan has put them on the brink of getting into the showpiece event again. AC Milan will be hoping for a miracle in order to secure a shot at silverware. Still, they can be buoyed by the fact Napoli were able to grab two against Roma in this competition… the only problem is that La Lupa still scored 3 in the 2nd leg.

Liga F:

3 sides in focus this weekend were in Coppa de la Reina action midweek as the Semi-Finals heated up. FC Barcelona breezed past Athletic Club 0-3 to give themselves an easier task next week at home, whereas Atletico Madrid and Real Sociedad ground out a feisty 1-1 draw to leave it all to play for. How will they be far this weekend when it comes to league action?

Game of the Weekend: Real Sociedad vs FC Barcelona - Mar. 10, 08:00am ET/14:00 CET

After their comprehensive midweek victory in the cup, the Champions return to domestic action looking to stay unbeaten. Their red-hot attack has already scored 75 times in the league and now bolstered by the return of Fridolina Rolfö and Alexia, it’s going to make it even harder for Sociedad to stop Blaugrana from marching on to yet another victory. The mid-table hosts have been inconsistent at best this season and will need the performance of the year to take anything from the match.

Best of the Rest: Atletico Madrid vs Sporting Huelva - Mar. 10, 12:00pm ET / 18:00pm CET

After a frustrating stalemate in the cup, Atleti have the perfect tonic to get back to form as they face basement dwellers Sporting Huelva. The hosts will be keen to end their mid-season slump which has seen them fail to win for five matches in a row, severely hampering their hopes for UWCL qualification. Huelva claimed their first win of the season in January, but another victory in Madrid would be a monumental shock for the adrift minnows.

Women’s FA Cup:

England’s biggest cup competition is reaching crunch time, with just 8 teams left in the competition. Tottenham once again face Manchester City for the millionth time this season, Manchester United will hope for a crumb of comfort after a poor result against West Ham and both Liverpool and Leicester are looking to continue their strong seasons by claiming a semi-final spot.

DAZN’s attention is elsewhere, however…

Game of the Weekend: Everton vs Chelsea, Mar. 10, 08:00am ET / 14:00pm CET

The Toffees were the last side to knock Emma Hayes’s team out of this competition, over 1,000 days ago! The defending holders and WSL Champions will be keen to avoid this outcome in her final season, however, and are still chasing trophies on multiple fronts. It is a huge match for both teams with a place in the final four up for grabs. Can Lauren James continue her stunning form this season to down the Merseysiders?
