All the league action, live this weekend on DAZN

Welcome to your weekend on DAZN, where we take a peek at the top tussles across the major European leagues, free for your enjoyment on our platforms. In France, Sonia Bompastor’s Lyon continue their march to the title, there is an extremely close race in Germany to claim the crown, Inter needs to win to have any hopes of chasing down Juventus in Italy, Barcelona will look to batter another opponent and there is a crunch clash at Stamford Bridge as Arsenal and Chelsea once again lock horns in the WSL.

Let’s dive in.

D1 Arkema:

With a 7-point gap at the top, Lyon looks well placed to once again defend their crown. Les Fenottes are doing it in some style too, with 59 scored and just 9 conceded, and still unbeaten domestically. PSG are praying they lose form soon, but they need to keep their wits sharp to hold off Paris FC. At the bottom, both LOSC and Bordeaux risk being cut adrift from Dijon, and another win for Guingamp could see them clinch survival.

Game of the Weekend: Lyon vs Fleury, Mar 15, 21:00 CET/15:00 ET

These two teams meet just six days after Fleury stunned Lyon to dump them out of the Coupe de France Feminine on penalties. Sonia Bompastor complained about the physicality that Fleury showed that day, and she knows her team will be in for a similar tough battle at home. The hosts can’t afford to slip up again if they want to keep their unbeaten record alive in the league, with just five more match-days to go after this clash.

Best of the Rest: Le Harve AC vs Montpellier HSC, Mar 17, 21:00 CET/15:00 ET

Le Havre have endured a frustrating season, but they do sit 7 points above the relegation zone. An inability to turn draws into positive results has seen them collect just a singular point 7 times this year, an unwanted record within the division. A point this weekend would be viewed as a positive result, however, as they face a Montpellier outfit looking to consolidate 4th spot.

Frauen Bundesliga

League action has taken a break in Germany for the DFB Pokal Frauen for two weeks, so there’s no change for now at the top. Bayern still lead Wolfsburg by a singular point, but the Greens now boast a +6 goal difference on the Bavarians. At the bottom Nürnberg and Duisburg both still look doomed, but they will hope to put pressure on Leipzig and Cologne who are also both not safe yet.

Game of the Weekend: Hoffenheim vs Wolfsburg, Mar 15, 18:30 CET/12:30 ET

A titanic tussle in Germany as 3rd placed Hoffenheim take on 2nd placed Wolfsburg. Tommy Stroot’s visitors are unbeaten in their last five outings and will be keen to claim 3 points to leapfrog Bayern at least temporarily. They face tough opposition in hosts Hoffenheim who are looking to cement themselves in 3rd place and claim UWCL Football, having narrowly missed out last season.

Best of the Rest: Bayern Munich vs RB Leipzig, Mar 16, 12:00 CET/06:00 ET

Alexander Straus’ side may kick off this match in 2nd place and they will be eager to reclaim the top spot, or if Hoffenheim does them a favour, consolidate their position at the summit. Five wins on the bounce have put the Bavarians in excellent shape going into the business end of the season and their squad has been bolstered by the return of influential defender Magda Eriksson. It could be a long afternoon for Leipzig in Bavaria.

Serie A Femminile:

With domestic action on hold due to the Coppa Italia Femminile, we return to the same picture with AS Roma comfortably ahead of Juventus as La Lupa enjoys a rare weekend off. The Old Lady know Fiorentina are just 4 points behind, whilst there is a big gap between Sassuolo and Internazionale. In the Relegation Playoffs, Milan, Como and Sampdoria all look safe, leaving Napoli and Pomigliano scrapping it out to avoid finishing bottom.

Game of the Weekend: Internazionale vs Juventus, Mar 17, 14:00 CET/08:00 ET

Hosts Inter sneaked into the top half of the table, but inconsistent performances have seen them struggle against some of the bigger names this season. They have a good chance to show they can compete with the big guns as they host a Juventus side that is still processing their Coppa Femminile exit, which spelt the end for manager Joe Montemurro. Can the Nerrazzuri stun Juve?

Best of the Rest: US Sassuolo vs Fiorentina, Mar 16, 15:00 CET/09:00 ET

The hosts have enjoyed a credible season and find themselves in 4th spot, however, they will be aware that slipping up today could see them sink to the bottom of the Championship Playoffs. The visitors meanwhile sit comfortably in 3rd and will have their eyes on catching Juventus who sit just four points above. With a Cup Final to look forward to, it’s already been a great season for La Viola, and it could get even better.

Liga F:

No change at the top of Liga F: Jonatan Giraldez’s Barcelona continue to annihilate the opposition. They’ve already scored 82 goals - 30 more than 2nd placed Real Madrid and almost treble that of 3rd placed Levante. At the other end of the table, Sporting Huelva continues a slow and painful end to a tough season, but who will be dragged down with them…

Game of the Weekend: FC Barcelona vs Tenerife, Mar 17, 14:00 CET/08:00 ET

As the Catalans prepare to gear up for the return of the UWCL next week, they first will want to maintain their 9-point gap at the top of the table. The hosts should have little problem in running over mid-table UD Tenerife, who are safe from relegation on 21 points. The return of Alexia and Rolfo has given the hosts a big boost as they enter crunch time - will either of them score on Sunday?

Best of the Rest: Granada vs Atletico Madrid, Mar 17, 12:00 CET/06:00 ET

The hosts sit just a single point above Real Betis and will be looking nervously over their shoulders. They face a very tough test this weekend as Atleti come to town, but the visitors are in poor form themselves. One win in 5 has severely hampered UWCL ambitions and dropping more points this week could be fatal for these hopes.

Women’s Super League

Another league which has taken a week off for domestic cup action - congratulations to Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City for reaching the FA Cup Semi Finals - but crunch clashes across the league look set to have a huge impact on the title race this weekend. Chelsea and City remain neck-and-neck at the top, but Arsenal aren’t far behind.

Game of the Weekend: Chelsea vs Arsenal, Mar 15, 20:00 CET/14:00 ET

A bumper crowd is expected under the lights at Stamford Bridge as the WSL’s fiercest rivalry pens another chapter. Emma Hayes will be looking to ensure she gets revenge in her final WSL clash against Jonas Eidevall, whilst the Gunners know anything less than 3 points likely ends their title hopes. With the Blues missing several key players, it could be the perfect time for the visitors to make a big statement. However, the defending champions will be eager to avenge the 4-1 drubbing at the Emirates too, in this fascinating clash of cultures and styles.

Best of the Rest: Brighton vs Manchester City, Mar 17, 13:30 CET/07:30 ET

dazn w football

Lee Geum Min’s late strike stunned the Citizens in November and Gareth Taylor’s side will be hoping they don’t suffer a third defeat in a row, as they visit the South Coast this weekend. All eyes will be on whether Bunny Shaw will be fit to start against the Seagulls after she left the field in pain in last week’s late FA Cup capitulation, whilst it’ll be a test of Kiara Keating’s mentality after some recent patchy performances. Brighton are safe from relegation but suffered their cup disappointment and will be eager to get back on track.
