No action this weekend from D1 Arkema after their midweek excursions, which saw the Paris derby end in a fiery draw and Lyon survive a scare to overcome Guingamp 2-1. There’s also a week off in Germany, so Bayern’s champagne has to stay on ice for now. However, we still have amazing action in Italy, Spain and England, as well as the little matter of two decisive UWCL semi-final 2nd legs…
Let’s dive into it.
UEFA Women’s Champions League
Game of the Weekend: Chelsea vs FC Barcelona, Sat. April 27th, 12:30pm ET/6:30pm CET/5:30pm BST
Barcelona’s five years of dominance at home ended last weekend as Chelsea produced a stunning away performance to snatch a priceless 1-0 lead in the 1st leg. Emma Hayes’s side are still heavy underdogs however, and the defending champions will still be favourites to progress to their 4th successive final. Jonathan Giraldez rested a number of key stars midweek to keep them fresh, and they will be keen to re-assert their European dominance as favourites to progress. Can the WSL Champions pull off another miracle, in front of a guaranteed record crowd at - a potentially sold-out - Stamford Bridge?
Best of the Rest: PSG vs Lyon, Sun. April 28th, 11:00am ET/4:00pm CET/3:00pm BST
Paris Saint-Germain looked like they were about to take an impressive 2-0 victory back to the capital for the 2nd leg, but a stunning turn-around from Sonia Bompastor’s Lyon means Les Fenottes actually travel leading 3-2 from the first leg. Parc de Princes is set to be electric as these two fierce domestic rivals do battle for the privilege of going for Europe’s biggest prize. Will PSG be able to assert their dominance, or will Lyon once again reach the UWCL final?

Serie A Femminile
A surprise stumble from Roma leaves them 11 points ahead of Juventus, however, La Lupa can secure another title if Juventus slip up on Friday, or seal the deal themselves with a midweek victory. Fiorentina’s credible draw leaves them 10 adrift of the Old Lady, but they look to have secured 3rd place with both Sassuolo and Inter struggling for form. In the relegation round, Napoli are still scrambling to try and put distance between them and Pomigliano, but Sampdoria are still a long way off.
Game of the Weekend: Napoli vs Como, Sat. April 27th, 08:30am ET/02:30pm CET/1:30pm BST
5 points in their last 4 games has helped propel Napoli off the bottom of the table and they now have a chance to put some real distance between them and Pomigliano. With the Neapolitans looking for a great escape, they host a Como outfit that are comfortably safe from relegation, but erratic form in recent weeks has seen them only pick up one win in 4. Can the hosts secure more precious points, and have a bright end to a torrid season?
Best of the Rest: Juventus vs Internazionale, Fri. April 26th, 2:30pm ET/08:30pm CET/07:30pm BST
After removing Joe Montemurro, Juventus have continued to be consistently inconsistent, a factor that has blighted their entire season. Failure to win this weekend will confirm that AS Roma have once again retained their title. However, they have a good chance to make it two wins in a row against an Inter side that have also struggled to put together long runs of form. Can January signing Lina Magull continue her impressive form for the visitors and guarantee Roma the title in the process?

Liga F
Barcelona returned to winning ways this week and increased their lead back to 12 points over Real Madrid. Staggeringly, they require just 2 goals to have a +100 goal difference. A vital win for Atletico Madrid has put them right on the tail of Madrid CFF - who face Barca next - and the Mattress Makers can climb into 3rd this weekend. At the bottom, Real Betis are trying to chase down Levante Las Planas as they look to drag them into the relegation dogfight.
Game of the Weekend: Real Sociedad vs Atletico Madrid, Sun. April 28th, 10:00am ET/04:00pm CET/03:00pm BST
The mid-table hosts have endured a torrid time lately, with no wins in their last five matches and just two points taken. With a cup final against FC Barcelona on the horizon, they’ll be desperate to find some form before the showpiece event. It’ll be tough this weekend though, with Atleti looking for a 4th win in 6 games as they aim to gatecrash the league’s top 3 for the first time this season and sneak into the UWCL again.
Best of the Rest: Real Madrid vs Levante Las Planas, Sun. April 28th, 12:00pm ET/06:00pm CET/05:00pm BST
Real Madrid are looking to continue their solid recent form and one more win should absolutely guarantee that they will finish as runners-up for another season. The visitors this weekend for Alberto Toril’s side need the points for a very different reason, as their extreme inconsistency has seen them lose 4 of their last 5 matches and pull them back into relegation trouble. Another loss could even see them slip to 15th if Real Betis can grab a win.

Women’s Super League
With Chelsea once again not in action, Manchester City were able to pull away at the top of the table and reclaim top spot, adding to their mammoth goal difference with a thumping 5-0 win over West Ham. Arsenal can draw level on points with Chelsea with a victory this weekend, but the Blues will still have 2 games in hand as they aim to defend their title for a 5th successive season. At the bottom, Bristol City are fighting for their lives, but already 7 adrift, relegation looks likely and could be sealed before they even kick a ball this weekend.
Game of the Weekend:Bristol City vs Manchester City, Sun. April 28th, 1:45pm ET/7:45pm CET/6:45pm BST
The Robins will be hoping to show some positive signs for their fans after a torrid season which has seen them win a single game, and they will be hoping to avoid a thrashing against the current league leaders. Gareth Taylor’s Citizens have won 13 games in a row as they look to topple Chelsea’s dynasty, but they will have to get the job done without key striker Bunny Shaw, who has seen her season curtailed due to a foot injury.
Best of the Rest: Everton vs Arsenal, Sun. April 28th, 07:30am ET/01:30pm CET/12:30pm BST
A welcome win over Brighton and Hove Albion ended a patchy run of form for Everton, who have been buoyed recently by Brian Sorensen extending his deal. The Toffees will be hopeful to use these good vibes to help them secure a good end to the season. Arsenal meanwhile can draw level with Chelsea on points, but the Blues mammoth goal difference means it is unlikely the Gunners will be finishing anywhere other than 3rd.
