Canada's women's national softball team enters Tokyo 2020 in search of its first Olympic medal.
With softball back as a full medal sport for the first time since 2008, the Canadians look to improve upon their fourth-place finish at that tournament in Beijing. Four players — Danielle Lawrie, Lauren Regula, Kayleigh Rafter and Jennifer Salling — return from the 2008 squad, aiming to take at least one step up the rung and onto the medal podium.

Canada will get five group-stage contests to earn its way into the July 27 gold-medal or bronze-medal games, which will feature the top four teams from the round robin. As such, there's little room for error in group play, so a good start is a must if a medal is in the team's future.
