The Canadians made history by appearing in the quarterfinals of the same tournament.

There were mixed results on Wednesday for the last two Canadian men playing at Wimbledon, as Denis Shapovalov advanced to the semifinals while Felix Auger-Aliassime saw his run at the famed tournament come to an end in the quarterfinal round.

In the early match, 22-year-old Shapovalov needed all five sets to overcome Khachanov (6-4, 3-6, 5-7, 6-1, 6-4). The duo battled in an epic three-and-a-half-hour match, as they took turns grabbing command of the contest until the Canadian pulled away for good.

Shapovalov needed just 38 minutes to claim the first set, but Khachanov roared back by winning the next two. With his back against the wall, Shapovalov put together a dominant fourth set to swing momentum back in his direction, but the Russian showed his fighting spirit in the deciding set as both men held serve until 4-4 when Shapovalov broke.

Serving for the win, the World No. 12 held to reach his first Grand Slam semifinal.

Shapovalov finished with 17 aces and 59 winners. He now moves on to face top seed Novak Djokovic on Friday.

Auger-Aliassime falls to Berrettini

Immediately after Shapovalov's victory, Auger-Aliassime took to Court 1 to try to match his compatriot's output. But, unfortunately, the 20-year-old entered the match the underdog against Matteo Berrettini, and the Italian showed exactly why he was favored by downing the young Canuck in four sets (6-3, 5-7, 7-5, 6-3).

Auger-Aliassime put up a fight, coming back from a lackluster opening set to win the second, but Berrettini's experience and superior service game were too much for the Montreal native to overcome.
