Converging in Mexico this week, the top eight women's players in the game will meet in a tournament to help determine this year's best. Qualification is decided by the total number of points accumulated by the players over the course of the season on the WTA Tour, meaning only the top current performers have been handed an invite.
World No. 1 and defending WTA Finals champion, Ashleigh Barty, has elected to withdraw from the competition due to pandemic-related quarantine restrictions in her native Australia, but that doesn't mean there won't be talent on display. Current title holders for the French Open (Barbora Krejčíková) and Indian Wells (Paula Badosa) have been confirmed to be among the field, which also includes fellow WTA Finals first-timers Anett Kontaveit, Iga Świątekv, Maria Sakkari and Aryna Sabalenka.
