Darby Allin takes part in the biggest match of his career this Sunday when he challenges for the AEW world title at AEW Double or Nothing, live in multiple regions on DAZN PPV.
The Four Pillars match that also features MJF, Jungle Boy Jack Perry and Sammy Guevara will see four vital components of AEW’s launch compete against each other with the company’s biggest prize up for grabs.
Allin, mentored by Sting since the icon’s AEW debut at Winter is Coming 2020, enters the match following an impressive run in AEW that has already saw him hit some monumental highs.
A former TNT champion, Allin’s championship runs have often been accompanied with hard-hitting action and the extreme sports fanatic has also had plenty of opportunities to share the ring with Sting in numerous tag battles.
With the former face of WCW playing such an instrumental role in Darby’s stunning rise, does the 30-year-old ever forecast a match with the decorated superstar with the AEW title on the line if Allin can be successful this Sunday night?
“Everyone always asks me, ‘Do you ever see yourself wrestling Sting?’ I don’t. I just see myself being his tag partner,” said Allin during an exclusive chat with DAZN days away from AEW Double or Nothing.
“If it came down to us doing a singles match, of course I would jump on it. Let’s do it. Sting thinks those days are past him and his career’s winding down, but who knows?
“I’m down for whatever Sting wants to do. He’s probably got a good year left I would say so if a singles match is what he wants then a singles match is what he’ll get.”
