FTR eagerly anticipating 'biggest tag team match of a generation' vs. Young Bucks at AEW All In

FTR eagerly anticipating 'biggest tag team match of a generation' vs. Young Bucks at AEW All InAEW

It didn't come as a surprise to many, but it was still good to get confirmation on the Aug. 9 edition of AEW Dynamite that FTR will be defending their AEW World Tag Team titles against the Young Bucks at "All In" later this month.

There wasn't much said between the teams when they faced off in the ring following the Bucks' victory over the Hardys on Dynamite, but there didn't need to be. Called out by Nick Jackson, FTR walked out to the ring and, holding their belts high, simply nodded their heads when Jackson said "All In!"

The staredown was all that was needed to confirm one of the most anticipated matches of the year, and the moment was not lost on FTR afterwards.

Speaking to DAZN's Steven Muehlhausen, FTR's Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler expressed their anticipation for the upcoming match, which will take place at Wembley Stadium in London on Aug. 27 in front of a potentially record-breaking crowd.

Harwood said that the bout could be an all-time classic.

"I think it has the potential to be the biggest match of Cash and I's career," Harwood said. "Before we even came to AEW, all you heard about was FTR versus Young Bucks. Or, excuse me, The Revival versus the Young Bucks, what would happen if those two teams got in the ring?"

As Harwood alluded to, FTR had success in WWE as The Revival prior to their current stint in AEW. As The Revival, Harwood and Wheeler won tag titles on all three of the organization's brands (Raw, SmackDown and NXT), making them the first WWE Tag Team Triple Crown winners, and giving them instant credibility as main event talent when they made the switch to AEW in 2020.

It came as no surprise that they would quickly cross paths with the Bucks, AEW's premier tag team from the very beginning. The teams would go put on two highly-rated matches — first at Full Gear 2020 then in a 2022 edition of Dynamite, with each team winning once — but the All In bout could finally settle the score.

"I feel that there's some underlying tension between the two teams, not saying that we dislike each other, but there's some underlying tension," Harwood said. "We honestly think we're the best tag team of the generation, and could be the best tag team of all time, and I think they feel the same way about themselves."

With both FTR and the Young Bucks staking their claim at the top of the tag team mountain, their trilogy match already feels like it matters more than the previous ones. And given the setting for All In, where a sell-out crowd at the biggest stadium in the UK is a very real possibility, the match could take on legendary status.

"It always felt like it needed the biggest platform possible and now, after all this time, we finally get it," Wheeler said. "It really is the biggest platform possible.

"Wembley could be, and probably will be, the biggest, highest-attended wrestling event in history. And what better way to have what could be the biggest tag team match of a generation than right there?

"Young Bucks. FTR. AEW World Tag Team titles. Wembley Stadium. All In. Who's the best?"
