The Rock names the most important match in wrestling historyDAZN
The Rock has heaped praise on one match.

The Rock has taken part in many memorable matches during his long and illustrious wrestling career but what bout does the former WWE champion believe is the most important contest of all time?

In a career that eventually saw him leave wrestling for Hollywood, The Rock went up against some fo the industry’s big names including Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, and John Cena, but he goes back to the 1980s when naming the match that had the most impact.

In 1984, Hogan, a wrestler who elevated the sport of professional wrestling into a global phenomenon during that era, faced The Iron Sheik at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Victory for Hogan made him WWE champion and as the face of Vince McMahon’s company, WWE went to another level which changed the game forever.

“Hogan vs Sheik. NYC. Garden. 1984,” wrote The Rock on his X account in 2021 when replying to a WWE on Fox post.

“Seminal match with historic implications and a legit bounty thrown in the mix.”
