Will Ospreay and Kenny Omega steal the NJPW Wrestle Kingdom show despite debut of Mercedes MoneDAZN

Wrestle Kingdom 17 provided many memorable moments including the debut of Mercedes Mone, but it’ll forever be remembered for the gripping clash between Will Ospreay and Kenny Omega.

Many expected a classic match, but their 34-minute epic was better than anyone expected and it’s clear that this rivalry is far from over.

Omega’s One Winged Angel was enough to secure a crucial victory following a match that saw both men squander big chances.

Omega dominated the early stages and managed to bust Ospreay wide open, but any hopes of securing an easy win were constantly thwarted by Opsreay’s incredible spirit.

Despite surviving multiple onslaughts, including a huge turnbuckle DDT from the top rope, Ospreay couldn’t escape Omega’s famed finisher as he lost his IWGP US title to the AEW star.

Elsewhere in the Tokyo Dome, the former Sasha Banks of WWE fame was on hand to ruin Kairi’s celebrations as she attacked the women’s champion before issuing a challenge for Battle in the Valley next month.

In the show’s main event, Okada defeated Jay White courtesy of a brutal Rainmaker as he recaptured the IWGP heavyweight title.

The New Zealander was in control throughout, but his half-year reign with the company's top prize was ended by Okada who was greeted by Shingo in the show closer. Former champ Shingo issued a challenge of his own to the new champion, teasing a future meeting between two of Japan’s biggest stars.
