The movie is set to begin filming this year.

Move over Dwayne Johnson, Dave Bautista and John Cena, WWE's latest champion-turned-movie star appears to be Cody Rhodes.

The recently crowned undisputed WWE champion has reportedly been tapped for a role in the reboot of the comedy classic The Naked Gun, starring Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson.

According to the report, Rhodes has landed a part in the film, which is set to begin shooting this year.

"Cody may be having a huge feud with The Rock [Dwayne Johnson] in the WWE ring right now but it looks like the battle will extend to Hollywood as he is going to star in the new Naked Gun film," a source told the Daily Mail.

"And to make things a little easier for himself, he might actually end up playing himself in the film."

Rhodes has previous acting experience, having appeared in an episode of Sci Fi's Warehouse 13 as well as seven episodes of popular comic book series Arrow. Additionally, Rhodes did voice acting for the animated Netflix series Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, which released last year.

For any fans worried that "The American Nightmare" will have to take an extended hiatus from the WWE, his movie role is reportedly a cameo.
