It was a mixed day for Team USA as the boxing tournament rolls on at Tokyo 2020.

Team USA super-heavyweight Richard Torrez Jr. managed to overcome Algeria's Chouaib Bouloudinats to reach the quarter-finals of the boxing tournament at Tokyo 2020.

Bouloudinats absorbed a lot of punishment from his US opponent, hitting the canvas in the first round and taking deep breaths in his corner as Torrez's attacks began to take their toll.

The Algerian was restricted to the occasional blow of his own, but Torrez's punches from all angles imposed his supremacy on the fight. The USA super-heavyweight was awarded the unaminous decision with two judges scoring the first and third rounds 10-8.

However, it was not all success for Team USA on the day, after a dissappointing loss for middleweight Tory Isley.

The 22-year-old failed to get past the round of 16 after losing a narrow 3-2 decision to Gleb Bakski of the Russian Olympic Committee.

Flyweight contender Viriginia Fuchs was also knocked out of Tokyo 2020, losing via unanminous decision to Stoyka Petrova. The judges scored all three rounds in the Bulgarian's favour.

In addition to Torrez, Delante Johnson, Keyshawn Davis and Duke Ragan are still in the medal hunt for Team USA.
