A 32-player field converges on Blackpool for the event, which runs July 17-25. The top 16 players from PDC Order of Merit have been seeded, and they've been paired with 16 qualifiers from the one-year ProTour Order of Merit.

Defending World Matchplay champion Dimitri Van den Bergh returns as the eighth seed, while top seed and world champion Gerwyn Price looks to add a World Matchplay title to his growing list of accolades.

World Matchplay format

  • First Round: Best of 19 legs
  • Second Round: Best of 21 legs
  • Quarter-Finals: Best of 31 legs
  • Semi-Finals: Best of 33 legs
  • Final: Best of 35 legs

Each game must be won by two clear legs, with up to a maximum of five additional legs being played before the sixth additional leg is sudden-death. For example, should a First Round game (best of 19 legs) reach 12-12, then the 25th leg would be the final and deciding leg.

World Matchplay prize money
