Tony Bellew sees success for Derek Chisora if he can drag Joseph Parker into a 'dog fight'

Tony Bellew sees success for Derek Chisora if he can drag Joseph Parker into a 'dog fight'DAZN
Derek Chisora and Joseph Parker renew hostilities this weekend.

Derek Chisora can gain revenge over Joseph Parker if the Londoner makes it his type of fight. That’s the verdict of Tony Bellew, Chisora’s former sparring partner who’s been ringside supporting his friend on multiple occasions. The fight, being shown live on DAZN, is a rematch from earlier this year where the New Zealander climbed off the canvas to squeeze past Chisora on points.

In their first meeting back in May, Parker was dropped heavily in round one but rallied brilliantly to take the verdict on the scorecards. Bellew, who has visited Chisora several times during this camp, is expecting another close battle but he believes the former world title challenger can claim victory if he makes it a rough fight.

“It’s really simple, ‘Del’ has to make it a dog fight,” said Bellew when speaking exclusively to DAZN. “We need the ‘Del’ of old to come in and just make it a horrible, nasty, bruising fight for Parker and not let up on the pace at all. Get on Parker’s chest from the first bell and just go to work. If ‘Del’ can do that and keep it going for the full distance, then I don’t see how he loses.

“We’ve seen him do it before. The first Dillian Whyte fight is a prime example. ‘Del’ performed better than anyone expected that night and by being aggressive and being in Whyte’s face, he almost caused a big upset. If he can find it in himself to get that version back and just go all out at Parker, then he can do it. This is a huge fight for him. He has to give it everything.”
