Rolly Romero was supposed to get the fight he's longed for when he was scheduled to face Gervonta Davis on December 5 last year.  
 
However, Romero was the subject of a sexual assault case in Nevada and was subsequently pulled from the fight and replaced by Isaac Cruz. The case was later dropped, which cleared the way for Romero to finally get his hands on Davis come Saturday night.  
 
Cruz almost ruined what Romero had wanted to do and become the first fighter to beat Davis. Instead, 'Tank' won a tougher-than-expected contest by unanimous decision. From what Romero saw that Sunday evening in Los Angeles, if he'd been standing across the ring and not Cruz, things would have ended differently. 

"I'm gonna tell you like this: If I was in the ring that night that he fought Isaac Cruz, Gervonta Davis would have been knocked out cold," Romero told <a href="https://www.dazn.com/home"> DAZN </a> .

"He knows it. That's not good for him. That fight made him look inferior and made him look like s—." 
 
While the consensus was that Davis did enough to win, Romero viewed it differently and explained that if it weren't for his name, the knockout artist from Baltimore wouldn't have gotten the nod on the judges' scorecards. 
 
"I thought it was (a) good draw," Romero admits. 

"That was a good draw. The thing is, Tank is also the favorite and the money guy at the division. So why are they (the judges) going to give the fight to Isaac Cruz?" 
 
Heading into the most important fight of his career, Romero (14-0, 12 KOs) is coming off of back-to-back stoppages wins over Avery Sparrow and Anthony Yigit. The 26-year-old doesn't want you to worry about a decision like Davis vs. Cruz. He vows to win emphatically to the point where the fans are the only ones who need to show up. 
 
"The fight is not going to go 12 rounds," Romero bluntly said.

"We do not need judges. We don't even need a referee. I'm gonna beat the f— out of him."

Gervonta 'Tank' Davis finally gets to face Rolando Romero after their inital bout in December was delayed. 

Romero was the subject of a sexual assault case which resulted in the 26-year-old being replaced by Isaac Cruz. The case since then has been dropped. 

Now Romero will be looking to pull off a huge upset against one of boxing's hardest punchers, who will also have an eye on getting a world title shot with a win.

Tibault Courtois put his team on his back as the goalkeeper put on a masterclass in leading Real Madrid to a 1-0 victory over Liverpool in the 2021-22 UEFA Champions League final.

The 'keeper turned away nine shots by the English side, several of which seemed destined for goal as Madrid did just enough to claim their 14th Champions League title.

Liverpool's attack was much more fluid and inventive than that of the Spanish giants, as the Reds spent large swaths of time in the Madrid half. The Reds' danger men, Sadio Mané and Mo Salah, were each denied of surefire goals by Courtois, who stood taller than his 6-foot-7 frame on the night.

Amid mounting frustration by a Liverpool side that created chances to no avail, Vinicius Jr. proved clinical in his lone shot on target as the Madrid attacker put away a tidy finish from in close in the 59th minute. The goal piled more pressure on the English side, who responded positively but couldn't find a way past Real's big Belgian.

Ultimately, Madrid were outshot 24-4 (9-2 on target) but it didn't matter, as Vini's strike just before the hour mark was the difference between the sides.

Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis is the best fighter across three divisions, according to Leonard Ellerbe.

Tank fights Rolando Romero on Saturday night in New York as he defends his WBA lightweight ‘regular’ title, as he looks to maintain his unbeaten record.

If he retains the belt then he will be in demand as a free agent, assuming he leaves Mayweather Promotions as he plans, and could be in line for a title fight against the winner of George Kambosos Jr. vs. Devin Haney, which takes place next weekend in Australia.

Tank’s last fight was against Isaac Cruz, which he won by unanimous decision but was nonetheless a tough fight for the 27-year-old American, and Mayweather Promotions’ chief executive Ellerbe believes it is not indicative of his full abilities.

“Tank does not get the credit that he deserves. For whatever reason, he doesn't get his credit. Tank is the best fighter across 130 to 140 pounds without a doubt – hands down. There are no fighters out there with a big name like his within his weight,” he told <a href="https://www.boxingscene.com/ellerbe-davis-get-credit-he-deserves-p4p-lists-dont-make-you-money--166556" target="_blank">BoxingScene.com</a>.

“He's not getting pound-for-pound credit either. But personally, I don't care about that. It's a subjective list. At the end of the day, you can't feed your family off a pound-for-pound list. You can't go into the bank and ask for a loan to buy a house and say, 'I'm number so and so on the pound for pound list.' It's an achievement, but it doesn't put a single dollar in your pocket. But putting asses in seats do, and he's great at doing that. 

“He's one of the best fighters in the world. On Saturday night, he will remind everyone who's been sleeping on him.”

“Tank is just 27 years old. It’s a process. We had a plan all along for Floyd too. He would do his part and we would do our part. That's been our plan all along for Tank. Sometimes things don't happen fast enough as the naysayers and haters want, but my focus is f—  the naysayers and haters. 

“I know what I'm doing. We have a great team with me, Floyd, Al Haymon, and Stephen Espinoza. When we put our heads together, we produce a big star who is the cream of the crop. 

“It's all about timing for when these big fights happen. It has to make sense for both sides. I tried to make the Ryan Garcia fight on two occasions. We tried to fight Tevin Farmer, as well as other guys I don't want to mention. 
“Every promoter out there wants to be in the position we're in. It's very hard to build your guy into an attraction and a ticket seller. If Bob Arum was doing this s—  nobody would be saying anything about it. Because you best believe, he has a stable of fighters and wants his guys fighting his guys. He's not going to hand the titles to Mayweather Promotions or PBC. Just because you win the belts, it doesn't make you a star. Tank doesn't need any belts to be a star. Tank is willing to fight everybody.”

Gervonta 'Tank' Davis 'is the best fighter across 130 to 140lbs' says Leonard Ellerbe

Frank Warren wants Joe Joyce back in the ring this summer in order to set up a clash with Joseph Parker this September.

Parker and Joyce had been expected to announce a fight in the near future but ultimately the bout has been suspended indefinitely, with Warren blaming a wrist injury for the former WBO champion for the postponement.

Joyce now has an empty schedule ahead of him and having last fought in 2021 when he defeated Carlos Takam, is in need of a fight to stay active.

Frank Warren said on his <a href="https://www.frankwarren.com/high-stakes-for-cunningham-at-wembley-as-the-juggernaut-returns/" target="_blank">Queensberry Promotions</a> website: “I’m really looking forward to seeing the heavyweight juggernaut Joe Joyce back in action too. 

“Joe’s had a [frustrating] time since his demolition job on Carlo Takam last year. He’s not been as active as we or he would have liked due to a wrist injury and the delay to his showdown with Joseph Parker. 

“We found out last week that Parker’s training schedule scuppered our plans for them to meet on July 2nd, but it was important to us and Joe that he still fight after such a lengthy layoff with injury.

“The carrot for Joyce is a win on July 2 will set up a massive showdown with Parker in September. He needs to keep his focus, though, and deliver on July 2 as the big opportunities are now there to be taken for the Olympic Silver medallist."

Artur Beterbiev believes that Dan Azeez is ready to become an elite light heavyweight, according to promoter Ben Shalom.

Azeez became Britain’s light heavyweight champion with a 2021 knockout win against Hosea Burton, and then followed that up with an impressive victory against Reece Cartwright in March this year.

He holds an unbeaten record and has also sparred with another fighter with an unblemished record, Beterbiev, the unified lightweight champion.

This June the Russian puts his WBC and IBF belts on the line ahead of a clash with WBO belt holder Joe Smith Jr., ahead of a potential undisputed match-up with Dmitry Bivol down the line.

"That's the level he wants to get to," Shalom said to <a href="https://www.skysports.com/boxing/news/12183/12622067/dan-azeez-is-ready-for-world-level-after-impressing-artur-beterbiev-in-sparring-says-ben-shalom" target="_blank">Sky Sports</a>.

"I know that Beterbiev and his camp were saying 'you're the next one'. They were so impressed with him, they were trying to sign him. They think he's the next guy.

"I think it's given him so much confidence now, to the point that he feels like he can take on anyone.

"Dan's gone out there and now knows he's ready for world titles, he's ready for that level.

"Beterbiev couldn't believe how talented Dan was."

With no world title shot on the cards in the short term, Anthony Yarde is the next potential opponent, believes Shalom.

"I think the Lyndon Arthur fight is the obvious fight next," he stated.

"That's a fight we want to make and we think is great for both fighters.

"Lyndon Arthur knows about the fight, I think he wants a slight warm-up first.

"Both fighters are very keen on the fight so we can hopefully make that happen in September."

The light heavyweight contender could fight another British opponent ahead of a step up to world title challenges.

Devin Haney backed Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis against Rolly Romero tonight.

Haney is preparing for his own lightweight clash, when he aims to become undisputed at 135lbs against George Kambosos Jr. next weekend.

However this Saturday sees Tank take on Romero in a rearranged clash in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Speaking to <a href="https://www.boxingscene.com/haney-rollys-trash-tank-on-totally-different-level-not-even-competitive-fight--166567" target="_blank">BoxingScene.com</a>, Haney explained why he thinks that his fellow American is the favourite.

“I think ‘Tank’ will win,” he explained. “I think Rolly’s trash. I don’t rate him at all. I mean, who has he beat to prove he even belongs at the top? … What did he even do to get there? Who did he beat?

“His biggest fight that he won for the interim belt was against a guy that he really lost to. So, I mean, all that speaks for itself. ‘Tank’ is on a totally different level than Rolly, so I don’t even rate that fight at all. That’s not even a competitive fight to me.”

Davis is defending his WBA ‘regular’ title against Romero, and a win could tee him up to be a contender to take on the winner of Haney vs. Kambosos once their contest is decided.

“I just hit him on the edge of the stage," Davis admitted with a smile about the incident after the weigh-in. "I just pushed him to get in his head. He talks too much."

Romero (14-0, 12 KOs) tipped the scales at 134.25 pounds. He felt Davis pushed him because he was starting to experience the butterflies and could only react one way. 
 
“Motherf—er pushed me, as simple as that,” Romero laughed when asked about the incident. “He’s scared. He’s afraid, I’m a f—in’ alpha compared to him. He’s a b— 
for that. He could have f—ed up the fight, I could have twisted an ankle or some shit. But I got some crazy ass reflexes. And then when I come back up, he runs behind somebody. He’s scared, man. He’s scared.”

Light heavyweight prospect Junior Younan has a keen eye on a light-heavyweight division that is thriving at this current moment in time. 

With Canelo Alvarez now looking to become a two-time champion at 175lbs, it has become a must-watch weight class for boxing fans despite the Mexican's loss to WBA (super) champion Dmitry Bivol at the start of May. 

However, some would like to see the undisputed champion at super middleweight face David Benavidez, who has been constantly linked with a fight against one of the world's best pound-for-pound fighters. This is a contest which excites Younan. 

"It’s a good fight, it’s a very good fight," Younan told The DAZN Boxing Show.

"First and foremost, I’m a boxing fan. I love the sport, so that right there, it doesn’t get any better than that."

When it came to breaking down the fight itself, Younan believes Benavidez has the tools to beat Canelo but pointed out that the American will need to be smart throughout. 

"I do think that the activity level would probably get to Canelo a bit, but I think Benavidez has to be a little more meticulous with what he does because if he gets over aggressive, Canelo might be able to slip something in there.

"We’ve never seen Benavidez on his back foot either for a whole fight. I think Canelo might be able to put him on his back foot.

Amir Khan is ready to step into the ring once again just weeks after announcing his retirement.  

Earlier this month, the former world champion walked away from boxing following a brutal loss to long-time rival, Kell Brook, but it appears that he’s not quite ready to give up on competition just yet after issuing a challenge to Floyd Mayweather. 

Once boxing’s best fighter, Mayweather has made a fortune from the exhibition circuit with a number of contests against various levels of opposition including YouTuber, Logan Paul.  

Mayweather was once a serious target of Khan’s when the pair occupied lofty positions at welterweight back in 2014, but it now appears that an exhibition between the pair is the only way they can get in the ring. 

“We saw the event today, I think Floyd needs a real challenge,” said Khan to videographer <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/Cd-5OTlgtMl/">Azizdxb</a> after watching Mayweather dominate previous sparring partner, Don Moore, last weekend in Abu Dhabi.  

Khan added, “We should do it, 100 per cent guys, let's make it happen. I'm calling him out. Either hit me up or hit my brother up.”

WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney is convinced he has the plan to topple unified champion George Kambosos Jr. 

The pair meet for the undisputed lightweight title in Melbourne, Australia on June 4 and Haney is full of excitement ahead of what will be the biggest fight of his career so far. 

"This opportunity means everything to me, this is the Super Bowl of the lightweight division, the biggest fight in the lightweight division, this means everything and I'll take full advantage of it," Haney told <a href="https://www.skysports.com/boxing/news/12183/12621795/devin-haney-hints-at-george-kambosos-jr-weaknesses-and-vows-to-bring-undisputed-title-back-to-father-in-america">Sky Sports</a>. 

"There are many ways, there are many holes and different ways we can beat him, but the one game-plan we have we really feel like it will work.

"But you never know until you get in the ring. We're ready for anything, anything he brings to the table we'll be ready for and I can't wait.

"Obviously if you watch him enough, you can see the habits and the things they do. Of course he has holes, of course he has bad habits, I'll look to show him.

"I'm not going to sit here and let him know exactly the holes I see, what would be the point in that? I'll save it for fight night and then after fight night you can ask me how I executed the holes."

Whoever comes out on top at Marvel Stadium will have to defend the undisputed title in an immediate rematch.

Following a points win over Rydell Booker on Thursday night, Swedish heavyweight Otto Wallin is looking to challenge himself against some of the biggest names in the division. 

In the run-up to Thursday's contest, Wallin's promoter Dmitriy Salita revealed that his fighter would be willing to face <a href="https://www.dazn.com/en-US/news/boxing/deontay-wilder-squashes-retirement-talk-i-cant-stop-right-now-i-must-continue-with-my-journey/sujqn6s6wp81l4qhia88x5g1">former WBC champion Deontay Wilder who recently announced that he would be returning to the ring</a>. 

“I think Otto would love to fight Deontay Wilder,” Salita told <a href="https://www.boxingscene.com/amp/promoter-salita-otto-wallin-love-fight-deontay-wilder--166527">BoxingScene.com</a>.

“I think that’s a great fight that makes a lot of sense because Otto gave Tyson Fury the most difficult fight of his career.

"Obviously, Wilder lost to Fury twice in their memorable trilogy. So, I think that’s the fight that makes the most sense. And I’ve actually reached out to Team Wilder and let them know that Otto can be available.”

Speaking after his unaminous decision win over Booker, the 31-year-old Swede has eyes on one goal, and that's becoming a world champion. 

"It’s my first time in Michigan and I really enjoyed it. (Tyson) Fury forgot about me. He doesn’t want to fight, but I’m still going to be the next heavyweight champion from Sweden, no matter who I have to beat."

Otto Wallin 'would love' to fight Deontay Wilder says promoter Dmitriy Salita

Claressa Shields and Savannah Marshall were ready to fight inside the ring immediately after the former scored a third-round knockout of Femke Hermans to retain her WBO women's middleweight title at the beginning of April. The win set up a showdown between the rivals that was set to happen sometime during the summer.  
 
A source very close to the situation told <a href="https://www.dazn.com/home">DAZN </a>during Katie Taylor-Amanda Serrano fight week that Shields and Marshall were supposed to fight on July 9 in England. The same source says Shields, who did analyst work for DAZN during that week, and Marshall were supposed to have an introductory news conference on May 2, two days after Taylor beat Serrano in a fight of the year candidate.

However, the source states that Marshall hadn't signed her part of the contract, and the fight was in question as Shields hadn't heard from Marshall. Then there was the matter of Marshall having surgery, with Shields disputing the validity of the injury and not wanting to wait for a proposed September date. 
 
That appears to be settled as promoter Ben Shalom told Sky Sports on Thursday that Shields and Marshall have signed a contract to square off in September to determine an undisputed women's middleweight champion. A date and venue hasn't been determined. 

"Early September," <a href="https://www.skysports.com/boxing/news/12183/12621979/claressa-shields-and-savannah-marshall-sign-terms-for-undisputed-middleweight-clash-in-september-says-promoter-ben-shalom" target="_blank">Shalom told Sky Sports</a>.

"Both fighters are ready. Both fighters are signed.

"I can't wait. It's taken a while. Claressa has finally got her match. It's the first time we're seeing a genuine rivalry in women's boxing, and that's a sign of the times." 
 
After making mixed martial arts her primary focus in 2021 for Professional Fighters League, where she went 1-1, Shields is making boxing her main priority in 2022. In February, she defeated Ema Kozin by unanimous decision to retain her IBF, WBA, and WBC titles. A win would make her a two-time undisputed middleweight champion and become the first boxer in the four-belt era to be undisputed in the same weight class on two occasions.

Claressa Shields vs. Savannah Marshall is 'signed' for early September, according to Ben Shalom

Carlo Ancelotti made history following his team's stunning 6-5 aggregate win over Manchester City in the semi-finals by becoming the first manager to reach the UEFA Champions League final on five occasions. 

With three European Cup wins as manager, Ancelotti is no stranger to winning this competition, but now he is set to face one of, if not the, toughest challenge yet on Saturday when he tries to overcome a Liverpool team which has cemented itself as one of the best teams in world football. 

However, being the underdog is a role his Madrid team have relished throughout this season's tournament, knocking out Paris Saint-Germain, defending champions Chelsea and Manchester City in the run-up to the showpiece game in Paris. 

DAZN takes a look at the Italian manager's record in European finals ahead of a potential classic in the French capital. 

<h2>UEFA Champions League 2003, AC Milan 0-0 Juventus (a.e.t), Milan win on penalties 3-2</h2>

Old Trafford was turned into Italy for a day when two of the country's biggest clubs, Juventus and AC Milan, went head-to-head for European honours. 

Milan thought they had taken the lead in the first half through Andriy Shevchenko, but his effort was ruled offside after Rui Costa was deemed to have blocked Gianluigi Buffon's line of sight from an offside position, despite replays showing that the midfielder had moved out of Buffon's sight before the shot. 

Andrea Pirlo also hit the bar for Milan in the first period, but those were the only clear chances in what was a tight 90 minutes. 

A goalless extra time followed before Milan triumphed on penalties courtesy of successful attempts from Serginho, Alessandro Nesta and Shevchenko. 

<h2>UEFA Champions League 2005, AC Milan 3-3 Liverpool (a.e.t), Liverpool win on penalties 3-2</h2>

Two years after securing a sixth European Cup, Milan looked to make it seven against English giants Liverpool at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, and at the end of the first half, it looked like the trophy would be coming back to Italy. 

Two goals from Hernan Crespo and a goal from Paolo Maldini put Milan 3-0 up at halftime, but what transpired in the second half was one of the greatest comebacks in football history. 

Three goals from Steven Gerrard, Vladimir Smicer and Xabi Alonso between the 54th and 60th minute put Liverpool on level terms. 

The game went to extra time, where Liverpool goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek produced an impressive double save from Shevchenko, and penalties. The Reds triumphed on this occasion 3-2 with Dietmar Hamann, Djibril Cisse and Smicer scoring successfully, while Dudek saved spot kicks from Pirlo and Shevchenko after Serginho blazed his penalty over the crossbar. 

<h2>UEFA Champions League 2007, AC Milan 2-1 Liverpool</h2>

Two years on from the epic encounter in Istanbul, AC Milan and Liverpool met once again and this time Ancelotti was not going to let the Reds stop him from winning the club's seventh European title. 

Milan took the lead at the end of the first half after Pirlo's free kick deflected off striker Filippo Inzaghi's upper arm and despite calls for handball, the referee let the goal stand. 

The Italian side extended their lead in the 82nd when Inzaghi scored his second goal of the game after Kaka found the striker who rolled the ball into Pepe Reina's net. 

Liverpool got a late consolation goal courtesy of Dirk Kuyt, but that wasn't enough to spur a comeback akin to 2005. 

Milan instead held out and won 2-1 in Athens, claiming their seventh European Cup against the team which broke so many hearts just two years prior. 

<h2>UEFA Champions League 2014, Atletico Madrid 1-4 Real Madrid (a.e.t)</h2>

When Ancelotti arrived in the Spanish capital on a three-year deal in June 2013, the task was clear. Win La Decima, the 10th European title Los Blancos was craving since its last previous triumph in the Champions League 11 years earlier. 

The experienced Italian coach went onto reach the final during his first season in charge, but now he had to overcome city rivals Atletico Madrid in Lisbon who were beginning to threaten the dominance of Barcelona and Madrid in La Liga. 

Atletico took the lead in the first half with a Diego Godin header and it looked like Diego Simeone's team were on the brink of winning their first ever Champions League title, but then came Madrid Sergio Ramos who, in the 93rd minute, got on the end of Luka Modric's corner to put Los Blancos level and take the game into extra time. 

As extra time progressed, Madrid's star power shone through. Gareth Bale put Madrid ahead in the 110th minute after firing in a rebound from Thibaut Courtois, who managed to save Angel Di Maria's inital effort. Marcelo then extended the lead to 3-1 eight minutes later before Cristiano Ronaldo scored from the penalty spot at the end of extra time after being fouled by Gabi. 

Finally reaching this milestone relieved some pressure at Madrid, but to do it against a bitter rival made this victory all the sweeter for Ancelotti and his squad of players.

The Italian will be hoping to win a second UEFA Champions League trophy as Real Madrid manager on Saturday.

Eddie Hearn has a three-woman shortlist to decide the next opponent for Katie Taylor.

The undisputed women's lightweight champion fought Amanda Serrano last month in the biggest women’s boxing match-up of all time at Madison Square Garden in New York, with Taylor winning via split decision.

A rematch against Serrano was welcomed by both fighters immediately in the aftermath, with a suggestion that the fight could be held in Croke Park as a homecoming event for the Irish fighter.

Speaking to <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_Uw5RljRxM" target="_blank">IFL TV</a>, Hearn confirmed that Croke Park is the planned venue regardless of the opponent.

“There are three fights for Katie Taylor next,” Hearn explained.

“There is Cris Cyborg, there’s Holly Holm or there’s Amanda Serrano. We have had approaches from (the) government level in Ireland, they want to do Croke Park, and it would be an incredible moment for Katie Taylor. Those three names would be fine to do that. For me, I would like the Amanda Serrano rematch.

“It’s such a great fight, and we are talking to Jake Paul and Nakisa [Bidarian] about that rematch. If we can agree on terms, we’d love to go straight into the rematch and do it again and create an event that will be remembered even beyond Madison Square Garden.”

Taylor is known to be keen to fight in Ireland before the end of her career and after a tough battle against Serrano she may regard her next fight, whoever the opponent, as one of the last chances to fulfil that ambition.

Jurgen Klopp is one of football's great managers, and while his Liverpool team missed out on the Premier League last weekend, he will be looking to end the season on a high on Saturday. 

The Reds take on Real Madrid for European club football's biggest prize in a rematch of 2018's UEFA Champions League final, and if Liverpool come out on top, that will be the third trophy the team have won this season. 

Ahead of Saturday's showpiece event in Paris, DAZN takes a look at the German coach's record in European finals. 

<h2>UEFA Champions League 2013, Bayern Munich 2-1 Borussia Dortmund</h2>

After transforming a Dortmund side which had enjoyed plenty of success at domestic level, it was time for Klopp to try and guide his team to a first European trophy since the 1996-97 season. 

However, the team which stood in his way was Bayern Munich which fuelled the rivalry between the two German giants. 

Bayern took the lead through Mario Mandzukic in the 60th minute amongst the backdrop of an electric atmosphere at Wembley Stadium, but Dortmund found themselves on level terms just eight minutes later after Ilkay Gundogan scored from the penalty spot. 

With the game heading towards extra time, Dortmund fans hearts were broken when Arjen Robben scored an 89th winner for Bayern and secured a fifth European Cup for the Bavarian outfit. 

<h2>UEFA Europa League 2016, Liverpool 1-3 Sevilla</h2>

When Klopp arrived at Anfield in October 2015, it was clear that the German would be overseeing a rebuild during his first few seasons, but that didn't stop his team from reaching the final of the UEFA Europa League where they came up against serial winners Sevilla. 

Despite taking the lead in the first half through Daniel Sturridge, Sevilla found themselves on level terms one minute into the second half through Kevin Gameiro, before two goals from Coke saw the Spanish side win a third straight Europa League title. 

It was a dissapointing result and performance from Liverpool, but this cup run gave the fans a preview of what Klopp could achieve with Liverpool as long as he had the right personnel and tactics. 

<h2>UEFA Champions League 2018, Liverpool 1-3 Real Madrid</h2>

This European final loss for Klopp's Liverpool was probably the hardest to take.

First came the forced substitution of Mohamed Salah who injured his shoulder as a result of a dangerous challenger from Sergio Ramos in the first half. The Egyptian was forced off the pitch and it's an incident which fans still feel bitter about to this day. 

Substitute goalkeeper Loris Karious played a huge role in the result for all the wrong reasons in Kyiv. His lapse in concentration was seized upon by Karim Benzema who put Los Blancos into the lead in the 51st minute, but the Reds were back on level terms four minutes later thanks to Sadio Mane. 

Then came a moment of magic from Gareth Bale who scored the goal of the competition with an overhead kick to put Madrid 2-1 up. The Welshman wasn't finished and scored brace to make sure the game ended 3-1, but once again it was a chance Karius could have easily saved. 

After an injury to a star player and a poor goalkeeping performance, some would be right to think that Liverpool would struggle to bounce back and continue striving for success, but luckily redemption came in the same game the following season. 

<h2>UEFA Champions League 2019, Liverpool 2-0 Tottenham Hotspur</h2>

Klopp guided Liverpool to a second consecutive final and this time he was not going to have his players once again experience heartbreak on the European stage. 

Luckily the game against English rivals Tottenham Hotspur was a routine performance from the Reds. 

An early penalty was slotted away by Mohamed Salah who completed the perfect redemption arc after failing to make an impact in the previous season's final. This settled the nerves of many fans inside Madrid's Wanda Metropolitano stadium and Liverpool remained in control for the rest of the game. 

Super-sub Divock Origi decided to get in on the act with a second goal for Liverpool in the 87th which cued delirium in the stands and secured a sixth European Cup for Liverpool.

As well as being the perfect redemption after dissapointing game in Kiev, this first piece of silverware under Klopp was a spark for Liverpool who the following season won their first ever Premier League title by a huge 18-point margin.

The recently announced trilogy fight between Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez and Gennadiy Golovkin set for September 17 on <a href="https://www.dazn.com/home">DAZN</a> certainly piques the interest of Erislandy Lara.

So much so that the WBA (Regular) middleweight world champion didn’t hesitate to offer an early prediction for how he thinks the third bout between the rivals will go.

“I think both fighters are still at the top of their game,” Lara tells DAZN. 

“Canelo is in his prime and GGG has always been a fighter that keeps his body in great shape. It’s going to be a good fight but I’m leaning toward Canelo to win by split decision.”

That was the exact decision that Lara had tendered against him in a July 2014 defeat to Alvarez, counting as one of three controversial losses in his career.

Lara’s ledger also has a split decision loss to Jarrett Hurd in April 2018 and a majority decision defeat to Paul Williams back in July 2011.

“All my losses are questionable,” the 39-year-old Lara touts, “so technically I’m undefeated in some people’s eyes.”

Lara (28-3-3, 16 KOs) hopes that a solid showing against hard-hitting Gary O’Sullivan at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Saturday night generates interest for the Canelo-GGG III winner.

“This fight is going to be a lot more entertaining than most people are anticipating,” Lara vows.

“I’m fighting more on the inside at this stage of my career, and I’m sitting on my punches more, so being that he’s a brawler is going to be interesting.” 

If his performance doesn’t catch the eyes of the Canelo-GGG III winner, perhaps a clash with WBC titleholder Jermall Charlo or WBO champion Demetrius Andrade can be set up.

“Andrade is one of the best fighters in boxing and I think he has all the tools to beat anyone on any given day,” Lara says. 

“If we were to step in the ring, I believe my ring IQ would be the difference in the fight. I would make the proper adjustments to pull out the victory.”

Lara used that ring IQ to help dominate his way through the 154-pound division for a bulk of his career. At 39, the Cuban has to rely on his veteran savvy more than ever — a position that helps fuel Lara and his boxing legacy.

“I love the sport and I want to be remembered as one of the best Cuban fighters to ever step in the ring,” he says.

“To make the Hall of Fame would be special and those are the reasons why I’m still fighting, for my legacy and credibility.”
