The Kansas City Chiefs will be looking to make history when the new NFL season gets underway in September.
After seeing off the San Francisco 49ers in February’s Super Bowl LVIII to win their second consecutive Vince Lombardi Trophy, the Chiefs are looking to win a historic third straight title - something that no team has ever done in the Super Bowl era.
And Patrick Mahomes and company already know when and where the road to Super Bowl LIX will begin, with their opening game being unveiled ahead of the full schedule release.
What is the Kansas City Chiefs’ first game of the 2024 season?
As is tradition for the Super Bowl champions, the Chiefs will get to begin the 2024 season with a Thursday night home game, in which they will be able to show their latest Vince Lombardi Trophy off to their fans.
That means Arrowhead Stadium will play host to the NFL 2024 curtain raiser on Thursday, September 5 in a 8:20 p.m. ET / 1:20 a.m. UK kick-off.
Their opponents have now been revealed as the Baltimore Ravens, making this a rematch of last season’s AFC Championship game which the Chiefs won 17-10 in Baltimore.
When will the Chiefs find out the rest of their schedule?
The Chiefs have also learned their Week 2 opponents, with the NFL confirming that the defending champions will host the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, September 15 in a 4:25 p.m. ET / 9:25 p.m. UK kick-off.
The rest of the NFL schedule will be released on Wednesday, May 15 on NFL Network at 8 p.m. ET / 1 a.m. UK.
