Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales has dismissed any talk of a reunion with free agency quarterback Russell Wilson.
Wilson is set to be released from the Denver Broncos when the new season starts on 13 March after a horrid two years at Mile High.
Canales is the former quarterbacks coach for the Seattle Seahawks where he spent four years working with Wilson.
But now as the head coach of the Panthers, it does not come as a huge shock to hear Canales distance the franchise from a move for Wilson having traded up to draft Bryce Young first overall last year.
Speaking on the Up & Adams Show, Canales said: "This is not the situation for Russ.
"But what I will say is taking that chance and that opportunity to go to Denver, I really admire him for that, I admire the courage that took to branch away from what he was comfortable with.
"He really gambled on himself to go do things a different way."
Wilson had the worst season of his professional career in his first campaign with the Broncos, going 4-11 to start the first season.
And things did not get better in 2023 under Sean Payton, as despite marginal improvement Wilson was eventually benched and now his departure is imminent.
