Five things to look out for in Week 8 of the 2024 NFL season

It's a big week of action in the NFL.

All systems are a go this week in the NFL as no teams have a bye.

And with Week 8 having some intriguing games to get into, DAZN presents five storylines to look out for this weekend.

The return of Tua Tagovailoa

On Wednesday, Tagovailoa practiced for the first time since suffering a concussion in Week 2.

If he’s able to play Sunday at home against the Arizona Cardinals (3-4), it’d surely give the Miami Dolphins (2-4) a much-needed morale boost — especially superstar wideout Tyreek Hill, who should be aided by his QB’s return in the form of bigger numbers on the field.

No. 1 vs. No. 2

As of late Wednesday, quarterback Jayden Daniels’ status is listed as uncertain as he’s still nursing injured ribs.

However, if he can suit up Sunday, it’d mark the No. 1 and No. 2 picks in the 2024 NFL Draft going head-to-head in a big game as quarterback Caleb Williams leads the Chicago Bears on the road against Daniels’ Washington Commanders, respectively.

The fact that the Bears are 4-2 and the Commanders 5-2 makes this a big matchup between two winning squads on top of this QB duel.

Will the Bengals continue their hot play with a statement win against the Eagles?

After starting the season 0-3, Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase and the Cincinnati Bengals (3-4) have won three of their last four games and can get to .500 if they can defeat the Philadelphia Eagles (4-2) at home Sunday.

If the Bengals are going to build a winning season, this game could be pivotal.

By the way, Chase has an NFL-high 620 receiving yards with six touchdowns this season.

A huge AFC South tilt

We’ve got an early battle for first place on our hands as the Houston Texans (5-2) host the Indianapolis Colts (4-3) this weekend.

The AFC South rivals opened the season against each other with C.J. Stroud airing it out for 234 yards and two touchdowns and working well with Joe Mixon, who rushed for 159 yards and a TD on 30 carries toward the Texans’ 29-27 win.

Can they make it a season sweep against the Colts?

It's gut-check time for the Dallas Cowboys

After being destroyed at home by the Detroit Lions, 47-9, in Week 6, the Dallas Cowboys were sorely in need of a bye week.

Now, coming off that bye, it’s gut-check time for the Cowboys (3-3). If they’re going to make a stand and show some fortitude, having a solid showing on the road against the San Francisco 49ers (3-4) on Sunday Night Football would be a good start.

Simply put: They can’t afford to suffer another beatdown.
