What has alarmed Cam Newton?

Former NFL MVP Cam Newton has raised concerns over the Atlanta Falcons' signing of quarterback Kirk Cousins.

On day one of free agency, Cousins inked a four-year deal worth $180 million, with $110 million guaranteed.

The contract will take Cousins' career earnings over $400 million. Thanks to this deal, Cousins will surpass Tom Brady's career earnings despite never winning a Super Bowl.

Due to the enormity of the contract, many NFL pundits and former players have questioned the deal. Newton said on the 4th & 1 podcast, "Kirk Cousins has benefitted from many situations going right. He's the safe quarterback. I can see why the Atlanta Falcons wanted Cousins.

"Why didn't Atlanta get Justin Fields? It was still a risk, and comparing the two, they aren't talking about physical skillset; they're looking at statistics.

"But it is extremely alarming that Kirk Cousins has one playoff win in 12 years. But he has been breaking the bank.

"And Kirk is returning from an Achilles injury. That is concerning, and they still offered him a big money deal."
