Former NFL quarterback and current NFL analyst Chris Simms has had his say on the quarterback prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft.
On the Chris Simms Unbuttoned podcast, Simms ran the rule over Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye and others.
On Williams, Simms said: "Caleb Williams is one of the greatest quarterback talents I've ever evaluated coming out of the draft. He has got it all."
Williams is the projected first-overall pick. Many pundits and analysts see the USC product as the standout quarterback.
Simms continued: "I feel about as confident as I do with Caleb Williams, as I did with C.J. Stroud last year, as I did with Joe Burrow (in 2020), as I did with Patrick Mahomes (in 2017) …This guy (Williams) is an all-time thrower."
It is indeed high praise; Mahomes is a two-time MVP and three-time Super Bowl winner. Joe Burrow is a former National Champion, while C.J. Stroud is the reigning Rookie of The Year.
A former Heisman Trophy winner, Williams is the prototype modern-day quarterback. Something Simms highlighted: "Every time someone is open, boom, he hits him. The athleticism is phenomenal. The plays off-schedule are incredible. He is the most patient person in the pocket in the draft."
Most pundits expect the Chicago Bears to draft Williams with the first-overall pick.
