Did the Chicago Bears make a mistake with the Justin Fields trade?

Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe thinks the Chicago Bears 'botched' the Justin Fields trade.

On Saturday, the Bears traded Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers for a 2025 sixth-round pick.

Fields now joins Russell Wilson in the Pittsburgh quarterback room.

But did the Bears trade Fields away for too little a return? Sharpe thinks so.

On his Nightcap show, Sharpe said, "I said during the season that Chicago should have traded Fields at the trade deadline. They were not going to pass up on a rookie quarterback. The later you leave it, the value diminishes."

Sources from Chicago have suggested Fields wanted to go to Pittsburgh, and the Bears obliged and were happy to take a small return.

Sharpe refutes this: "If you wanted to appease Justin Fields, don't draft Caleb Williams. This trade shows that Chicago didn't want to appease Fields.

"That is damage control talk. Chicago let the quarterback carousel settle and then settled for a bargain price. The Bears have botched this from the beginning. I would have traded Fields last year."
