Is Charles Omenihu's time in Kansas City over?

Defensive End Charles Omenihu has hinted that his time in Kansas City could be over.

The defensive end played 56% of defensive snaps for the Chiefs in 2023-24. He recorded seven sacks and eleven quarterback hits across 11 games.

Omenihu missed the early part of the season due to a suspension for a failed drug test. The 26-year-old signed a two-year contract with Kansas City before the 2023 season.

However, there is a break clause in the contract. That clause allows both parties to move on for an inexpensive cap hit.

Omenihu finished the season with a torn ACL. He sustained that during the AFC Championship game in Baltimore. The former Houston Texan missed Super Bowl 58 due to that injury.

Following the Chiefs' win, Omenihu took to social media and said, "Want to feel appreciated."

Omenihu also said, "Didn't have a full season and put up numbers. Does that go unnoticed? Might have to do it again to get what I want at the end."

Per Spotrac, Omenihu's base salary for the 2024-25 season is $6.7 million. However, that does not carry any guaranteed money. Omenihu earned $8 million in guarantees at signing. His salary for 2024-25 could drop due to the injury.

Omenihu played a crucial role in Kansas City's dominant defense. He will be a big miss one way or another.
