The Jimmy Garoppolo era for the Las Vegas Raiders begins Sunday with a visit to the Denver Broncos.
Garoppolo signed as a free agent with the Raiders after more than five seasons in San Francisco, with the 49ers giving the keys to Brock Purdy following Garoppolo's injury in Week 13 of the 2022 season. Now the quarterback has been given the tough task of helping turn around a Raiders team that put up a 6-11 record last year, and the first test will come in the form of the Broncos.
Led by QB Russell Wilson, the Broncos were a mediocre 5-12 last season despite the nine-time Pro Bowler's move to Denver ahead of the campaign. The Broncos will hope new head coach Sean Payton will help Wilson and the rest of the team playing to their potential this season, starting with their home opener on Sunday.
