The Miami Dolphins have confirmed the signing of tight end Jonnu Smith.
The team announced the move on Friday, as the former Atlanta Falcons tight end agreed a move after he was cut from the NFC South team for salary cap reasons last week.
The Dolphins did not disclose the terms of the deal, but reports claim he has put pen to paper on a two-year deal, worth $10 million.
Smith hauled in a career-high 50 catches for 582 yards and three touchdowns last season, but the Falcons chose to release the 28-year-old as they begin a fresh era under new head coach Raheem Morris.
The signing of Smith sees Miami address what was something of a problem position last season, with Durham Smythe’s 366 receiving yards leading the team’s tight end corps.
The move will see Smith make the fourth stop of his eight-year career, after being drafted by the Tennessee Titans in 2017 before he joined the New England Patriots in 2021 for a two-year stint ahead of his sole season with Atlanta.
