The New York Jets will open their season with a huge Monday night primetime clash as Aaron Rodgers looks to complete his return from injury.
For the second straight season, the Jets will play in Week One’s Monday night clash, but the Gang Green will be hoping for a better start to the campaign than they got 12 months earlier.
The Jets’ 2023 season opener saw Rodgers go down injured on the team’s fourth offensive snap, as the veteran quarterback tore his Achilles on his Jets debut against the Buffalo Bills and missed the rest of the season.
Rodgers will look to go again this year and the Jets face another tough test in their season opener, this time heading out to California to face last season’s NFC Champion San Francisco 49ers at Levi’s Stadium.
The match will be something of a homecoming for Rodgers, who was born in northern California, while it will also see head coach Robert Saleh face his previous team.
Both teams will be eyeing Super Bowl runs in 2024, making this Monday night opener a mouthwatering clash.
The game is the latest to be revealed ahead of Wednesday evening’s full schedule release. So far, we know that the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs will kick off the 2024 season with a home match against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, September 5, before the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers take on each other in Sao Paulo, Brazil a day later.
Elsewhere, the Dallas Cowboys will visit the Cleveland Browns in a match that will see Tom Brady make his broadcasting debut, with the Chiefs Week Two fixture also revealed early, as they will host the Cincinnati Bengals.
