NFL Playoffs Weather Report: Conference Championships

NFL Playoffs Weather Report: Conference ChampionshipsDAZN

The most significant factor in the playoffs at times that no one can control is Mother Nature.

The weather can change a game in a moment and take a team from winning to sloppy plays and loss. We saw it happen last week when the Rams vs. Eagles games started with a bit of rain and cold temperatures.

By the second-half kickoff, it was a snowstorm, and the field had several inches of snow. The Rams fumbled three times, all after the snow started, and lost two of them.

The Eagles fumbled twice but recovered both of their fumbles and had a no-turnover game. The Rams had more yards than the Eagles but could not overcome turnovers.

So we are going to take you through the NFC and AFC Championship games weather.

Could we see Mother Nature take over another big game and change the outcome? It is possible, especially since both games will be played outdoors this weekend.

NFC Championship Game Playoff Weather Report

The forecast has no precipitation, but the cold temperatures could impact players.

With temps around 40°F/4.4°C and winds gusty, you will see players with hand warmers and oversized jackets trying to get warm when they are not on the field.

Receivers will have a more challenging time hanging onto the ball, and fumbles are more likely.

The kickers also struggle in the cold, and the Eagles kicker, Jake Elliot, missed two extra points last week. If that happens again, it could be a difference in the game.

AFC Championship Game Playoff Weather Report

It will be cold in Philadelphia but even colder in Kansas City, with temperatures around 32°F/0°C.

The Chiefs embrace that type of weather, but so do the Bills, and cold temps are nothing to a team that plays outdoors in Buffalo.

It is crazy not to think it can still affect both teams, though, and the biggest factor could be precipitation.

Forecasts are saying 0% precipitation, but there is a snowstorm moving across the United States that could hit late Sunday or Monday, and if it moves a little faster, it could potentially impact the game.
