The schedule for the 2024 NFL regular season will be released in one week on 15 May, according to reports.
Among the most highly anticipated fixtures to be released is the 2024 Kickoff Game.
The first game of the NFL season always sees the reigning Super Bowl champions, in this case the Kansas City Chiefs, play at home.
But who they will face is always kept a secret until the full schedule is announced.
However, while the order of the fixtures for the 2024 season is yet to be known, the opponents for each team has already been decided.
We already know that the Chiefs will host the Cincinnati Bengals, Denver Broncos, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Los Angeles Chargers, Las Vegas Raiders, Baltimore Ravens, New Orleans Saints and Houston Texans at Arrowhead in the 2024 regular season.
Who are the most likely opponents?
The NFL rarely has a divisional game take place in the Kickoff Game, so the Raiders, Broncos and Chargers are unlikely opponents - though the Bolts would be the most likely given Jim Harbaugh's return to the NFL.
The Saints and Buccaneers do not pose the same level of excitement as their teams of a few years ago did, so also appear to be less likely choices.
However, the Ravens, Texans and Bengals would all make for intriguing opponents.
The Chiefs beat the Ravens in the 2023 AFC Championship game, while they met the Bengals at the same stage the two years previous.
Last season the NFL picked the Detroit Lions as Kansas City's Kickoff Game opponents due to their up-and-coming nature, and if they wanted to repeat that the Texans seem to be the perfect fit.
