The old saying goes that familiarity breeds contempt, but as Nick Sirianni prepares to face the Washington Commanders for the third time this season, the Philadelphia Eagles head coach was full of praise for his opponents.
The NFC East foes will lock horns on Sunday night for a place in Super Bowl LIX after splitting their two regular season encounters.
The Eagles claimed a 26-18 win over the Commanders in Week 11 back in November, before rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels dazzled in a Week 16 thriller, leading Washington to a 36-33 victory.
Ahead of Sunday’s clash at Lincoln Financial Field, Sirianni has reflected on the task of facing a team they have already played twice this season.

"Any time you play somebody multiple times, you're going to know things about them,” Sirianni said. “But going back, they're going to have new wrinkles for us.
“Like I said, we're going to have new wrinkles for them. And it will be a game that, 'Hey, they're doing this off of that,' and we're going to have to adjust to things. You see the things he hurt us on last game and you try to correct them. And I know they're doing the same."
Washington’s first-year QB Daniels goes into the NFC Championship Game aiming to become the first rookie signal-caller to reach a Super Bowl and Sirianni is well aware of the threat the former LSU standout possesses.
“He’s able to win different ways, he can win with his arm, he can win with his legs, he can extend plays and make a play with his legs, he can extend plays and make a play with his arm,” Sirianni added.
“You can see he’s calm and cool in the biggest moments. I’ve got a lot of respect for how he’s playing.”
