Former Washington Commanders head coach Ron Rivera has weighed in on the debate over who the Commanders should select in the 2024 NFL Draft.
The Commanders hold the second-overall pick, and while all eyes are on what the Chicago Bears may do with pick one, the Commanders also have a big decision to make.
Asked what he would do if he were still head coach, Rivera told NFL Live, "You have to look at the style of offense. New offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury likes mobile quarterbacks. You need to have a mobile quarterback, so I would go with Jayden Daniels.
"Daniels can move around in the pocket, run with the ball and throw the ball downfield."
Answering questions about Daniels' size, Rivera said, "He's a big guy, and he will add weight. His slight frame doesn't concern me."
Daniels is the 2023 Heisman Trophy winner. He enjoyed a magical 2023 season, throwing 40 touchdowns and rushing for ten more. He is one of the most talented prospects of recent years.
